A bill seekingto provide support to firefighters following a post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) diagnosis was passed by the Tennessee General Assembly Friday.
The bill is named the James ‘Dustin’ Samples Act after a Cleveland firefighter who suffered from PTSD and ended his own life.
The bill establishes a grant program to mitigate the cost to an employer providing worker’s compensation for firefighters diagnosed with PTSD….
Representative Garrett says that lawmakers owe it to firefighters and those who work to save lives to do all they can to prevent any risk of injury on the job.
“It’s important that as a representative in the Tennessee legislature, along with Paul Bailey, my Senate sponsor, that we take care of the folks to take care of us,” says Johnny C. Garrett, 45th district of the Tennessee House of Representatives.
